How We Support Children & Families

Every child experiences the world differently, and every family has their own unique story.

If you’re concerned about your child’s emotions, behaviour or wellbeing, you’re not alone. Sometimes children need a safe space to express what they can’t yet put into words, while parents and caregivers need support to better understand what their child may be communicating.

At reconnect2thrive, we believe behaviour is a form of communication, not simply something to be managed.

Through child-centred, attachment-informed and play-based approaches, we support children, young people and families to better understand emotions, strengthen relationships and build confidence through connection, compassion and evidence-informed practice.

Our work is guided by a humanistic, person-centred approach that recognises every individual brings unique strengths, experiences and ways of engaging with the world. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, we tailor our support to meet the unique needs of each child and family.

Helping Children Make Sense of Big Feelings

Therapeutic Play & Early Intervention

Play is a child’s natural language. Through therapeutic play, children can safely express emotions, make sense of experiences and develop new ways of coping when words alone are not enough.

Sessions are individually tailored to support each child’s emotional, social and developmental needs while strengthening the relationships that are most important to them. We work alongside families to nurture emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence and meaningful connection.

Supporting the People Who Matter Most

Parent & Caregiver Support

Children thrive when the important adults around them feel supported too.

Parent and caregiver sessions provide a compassionate, judgement-free space to better understand your child’s emotional world, strengthen attachment relationships and develop practical, relationship-based strategies that build confidence and connection at home.

Support may draw upon approaches including:

  • Circle of Security
  • Tuning in to Kids – Emotionally Intelligent Parenting
  • Parent–Child Relationship approaches
  • Attachment-informed support

Building Calm, Confidence and Connection

Children & Teen Yoga

Movement is another language children use to understand themselves.

Our individual yoga sessions combine gentle movement, breath awareness, mindfulness and playful therapeutic activities to support emotional regulation, body awareness, confidence and overall wellbeing.

Designed for children and young people, sessions provide opportunities to slow down, reconnect with their bodies and develop practical strategies for managing stress, anxiety and overwhelming emotions in a safe, engaging and supportive environment.

Each session is tailored to the individual, recognising that every child experiences the world differently and deserves an approach that honours their unique strengths and needs.

Support Where Your Child Feels Most Comfortable

Home Visits

For some children and families, the comfort and familiarity of home provides the ideal environment for therapeutic support.

Where appropriate, home visits allow us to better understand your child’s everyday world, strengthen relationships within familiar routines and provide practical, relationship-based support in the places where life naturally happens.
