Our reflections and how we can continue to support parents and families
We were fortunate enough to host a screening of this documentary on May 21st at Mount Vic Flicks in Mount Victoria.
There were so many valuable messages within this documentary. And as acknowledged within the film and we also know that parenting can be hard work. This does not diminish that it is valuable, special and a profoundly rewarding experience.
As ‘Seen’ highlights, and the research shows, parenting often operates through neurobiological templates formed during our early years.
Children can unintentionally trigger unresolved experiences from their parents’ past experiences, and parents may not yet fully understand or have made sense of these experiences.
When parents engage in their own healing work, it can profoundly impact their ability to connect with their children.
Relationships can be rebuilt. We know that rupture and repair are not only possible but essential parts of authentic connection.
reconnect2thrive offers a therapeutic approach rooted in play and attachment to support this repair process. It offers a safe emotional space for both parent and child to explore deep feelings and past experiences at their own pace and on their own terms.
We offer a supported and nurturing space for children and their parents /caregivers to be seen. We meet them where they are at, to assist with growth and change.
The support of qualified therapists stays with families through this journey of self-discovery, using play as a powerful medium for emotional expression and connection
We understand that sometimes knowing what to do and experiencing what to do, can be very different. We provide the space to experience these changes whilst being supported through what is also sometimes difficult and uncomfortable feelings.
